Therapy

We offer help informed by the most recent research, to relieve distress, improve your life, and achieve your potential.

We focus on what the evidence shows works to improve your life.

We are trained in a range of evidence-based psychological therapies, to offer you an approach specific to you and your needs, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for anxiety and depression
  • Attachment-based therapy for couples and individuals struggling with relationships
  • Exposure therapy for panic, social anxiety and general anxiety
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Solution-focused brief therapy
  • Mentalisation-based therapy

We will get to the heart of the issues causing you problems and we will suggest practical solutions for your distress. We won’t waste your time with new fads, or techniques that are not backed by research.

Who we help

We help individuals aged 17 and over, and couples struggling with:

  • Depression/low mood/feeling "stuck"
  • Anxiety, including stress and anger
  • Sleep problems/insomnia
  • Chronic pain
  • Addiction and compulsive behaviours
  • Communicating in relationships

We help couples understand why each partner acts in the ways they do – and then help them respond together in new ways.

We help parents struggling to raise happy, fulfilled children while balancing their busy lives.

We help successful people in a range of industries to thrive in their careers: professional athletes, theatre directors, teachers, pilots, professional investors, new parents.

We work with anyone who is looking to make a positive change in their personal or professional life. For some professionals, where there is a specific work or performance-related problem to fix or goal to achieve, our coaching services will be more appropriate than therapy. We'll help you work out which is best for you.

People we work with stop worrying so much, start making better decisions, are kinder to themselves and the people around them. They learn to control their anger, they stop overeating, they are able to leave the house and exercise, they get on better with their boss or partner or children. They stand up for themselves, they start dating again, they leave abusive relationships. They find purpose, joy and meaning in their lives.

What to Expect

In your first session, we’ll ask you what you're struggling with, and why now feels like the right time to make a change in your life. We’ll also ask about any previous experiences of therapy - what was helpful and what wasn't. We want to know what you prefer, and will base how we work with you on your preferences, and what we know from the research tends to work best.

Over the first session or two, we'll work together to narrow that down into what you want to achieve in therapy, and how you might know when you've achieved it.  So, you don't need to come with a specific goal in mind.

There'll also be the chance to ask any questions you have - to make sure we are the right person for you.

If we don’t feel like we’re the best person to help, for whatever reason, we’ll direct you to someone better placed to help.

Sessions are 50 minutes long (sometimes longer for couples) and take place in person in London (Muswell Hill), or online via Zoom.
